Homeowners and tenants are starting to take a bit more care of their homes, opting to do a little DIY instead of ordering that take away or going to the pub. As the penny starts to pinch in pockets across Britain, more and more people are opting to do their own home improvements to save that little extra cash. Great news for the DIY chains which were noticing a slump just last year! But is it great news for the landlords or potential buyers of properties?

118 – 118’ Report a drop in people using their service to call estate agents! During the first quarter of this year the people at ‘118 – 118’ say they have noticed a drop across all areas of the residential industry. Estate agents calls have dropped by a margin on 5% which we have noticed to be the case for some of our local agents, as we see them taking more coffee breaks than usual. Letting agents calls have dropped by a whopping 17%, according to the good people at ‘118 – 118’.

The tenancy deposit scheme seems like a good idea. But it's not all it has been hailed as. Landlords are being put off by losing most dispute cases and tenant are finding it takes a long, long time to get their money back.
